The idea of doing two musicals that bookend the life of Jesus was an ambitious goal, but if you believe God has planted a seed, then all you can do is pick up your tools and get to work. We staged the beginning of the story,”Bethlehem,” in December 2010, and again this past December. Glenn Polk and our amazing acting troupe did a wonderful job, as they always do. There were some very special, very unforgettable moments in both productions. “Bethlehem” gave us all a new way to think about the birth of Jesus.
Now “Pentecost” will let us see the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus from a perspective that I believe will help us grasp more fully the magnitude of that astounding series of events. It is the rest of the story, in which Jesus is reunited with the Father in Heaven, while His followers who remain on Earth struggle to hold onto their faith, as they await the promised Holy Spirit.
But the greater story is how Jesus has forever changed the relationship between God and man. This musical illustrates profoundly how the cross is the dividing line of the history of mankind, after which nothing has been the same. It is the most glorious victory in all eternity, and it was for us.
I hope you will make your plans to come as soon as you can. Great seats are always available early in the schedule, and we always tend to sell out those later shows. Try to join us in May, so you can tell your friends about “Pentecost.” I believe you will want to.
Shows will be Fridays at 7:30 and Saturdays at 3:00 May 11th through June 30th, except Memorial Day weekend. Members of the Ragtown Gospel Band will be joining me to perform many of the songs within the musical, along with members of the cast. It is going to be a very special production.
Director Glenn Polk returns in the role of God the Father. Gabriel Ramirez will reprise his role as Jesus, and David Brantley joins us again in another riveting portrayal of Satan, along with a wonderful supporting cast. Help us fill the theater for”Pentecost.”
