SISTERS JOY

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

Saturday night at Ragtown Gospel Theater we were blessed by the music of SISTERS JOY.  Blessed, not only by their delightful performance, but by the heart they share for the message in those songs.  These three women are everything you are hoping to find when you attend a Southern Gospel music show.  We hope this was the first of many, many  times that we are able to introduce SISTERS JOY on the Ragtown Gospel Theater stage.   Their energy, harmony, and…

Fridays and Saturdays

Last night 4HEAVENSAKE gave the audience at Ragtown Gospel Theater an outstanding performance.   Sadly, it was Paul Hollabaugh’s final appearance with the group. After three years in the deep end of the quartet, Paul is moving to Florida.  I’m sure the Lord will lead the right guy to them to fill the vacancy, but we’ll miss having Paul on our stage.  It was a sweet  night that we all got to share.  Being their last time to perform together with Paul,…

4HEAVENSAKE RETURNS TO THE RAGTOWN STAGE

Audience favorite 4Heavensake is returning June 15th for a special performance at Ragtown Gospel Theater.  It is a particularly special performance because I asked the guys to do it as a favor for me, and they went through all kinds of scheduling contortions to make it possible.  That night will be the first time our eldest brother, Travis, and his entire family will see a production at the theater.  They are all driving down from Garden City, Kansas, and up…

CHORD OF 3 Comes to Ragtown Gospel Theater

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

This weekend will be a special one at Ragtown.  For some time we have been trying to coordinate schedules to bring an extremely talented group to the Gospel Theater.  CHORD OF 3, a trio of young women from Abilene, Texas will be performing Friday and Saturday night, June 8th and 9th. CHORD OF 3 has a unique sound, with beautiful close harmony that I think our audience will love.  If you have been planning to visit us at Ragtown Gospel…

Film Legend Dina Merrill Visits Ragtown Gospel Theater

The Post City Centennial Celebration is over, and Ragtown Gospel Theater had three wonderful audiences for performances Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I have several special happenings to share.  The most important is the continued overwhelming response to both the Gospel Music show and Peter the Rock.  Every audience seems filled with people who are so generous with their enthusiastic encouragement.   We had a group from First Presbyterian Church in Midland,  Live Oak Community Church in Lubbock, Indiana Avenue Baptist in Lubbock, and a…

The Post City Centennial Celebration

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

C.W. Post believed Post City, the town he founded here on the edge of the Llano Estacado, would be a utopian city.  This weekend, it is.  The town is filled with people, both homecomers and newcomers, all bustling around with smiles on their faces as they enjoy the best of the best of small town America.    I have long contended that there is something extraordinary about Post, and I’ve wondered if that has everything to do with its origins.  This is…

The Batten Family

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

Bluegrass music is always fun, but Bluegrass Gospel, done the way three generations of Battens do it, is just terrific!   Last Saturday night was the Batten Family’s first appearance at Ragtown Gospel Theater, and I hope there will be many more.   I certainly didn’t get enough, and judging from the way the audience was crowded around their table to buy CD’s after the performance, a lot of people wanted more. We had first heard of the Battens from our son, Jordan, who…
